The Reading Brings Us Together Facebook group originated in 2015 as a way for local friends to give and receive book recommendations, to chat about our favorite books and authors, and to get to know one another through a shared love of reading. Our little FB book club quickly turned into a discussion group with over 1,000 members who hail from countries from around the world. In our efforts to have thorough and active discussions, we searched the web and the blogosphere for book-specific questions with limited results for the vast variety of genres we were reading. Alas, the Reading Brings Us Together website was born.

This website is a spin-off of our member-focused Facebook group. We pride ourselves on being a member-focused group so the books you find on this site are books that we have read and discussed or are on the schedule as “buddy reads”.  “Buddy reads” are the books that we have pending to read with a scheduled discussion date. The buddy read recommendation list comes directly from member recommendations (there are currently 150 books on this list). Every other week, random books are pulled from this list and members vote from a poll of five books to determine what our next “buddy read” book will be. This book is then spotlighted here along with our previously read “buddy read”.

The discussion questions that you will find on this site were generated by members of the Reading Brings Us Together Facebook group. This is an active group of readers who offer thought provoking, interesting and fun-filled discussion questions for you to use with your online or in-person book club. We encourage the use of our questions but ask that you give our website, as well as our member, credit where credit is due. You will find that each question is followed by a members first name and last initial unless otherwise noted. You will also find quick reviews of books noted in the same manner.

Janette Peggs

I am Janette Peggs, the 3rd member of this wonderful trio of admins. I also live in West Virginia with my husband.  We have three young adult children and one beautiful granddaughter.  Our youngest just began her college career at WVU and we love to spend time in Morgantown at football and basketball games.

As for books, I love romance/smut, historical fiction and anything that is unpredictable (predictable happily ever after is one of my pet peeves!).  Authors - CoHo, Jamie McGuire, Kristin Hannah, Elin Hildebrand, John Green.  My all time favorite book is The Outsiders by SE Hinton - still love YA too!

When I'm not reading I love to bargain/thrift shop, scrapbook, cross stitch, watch the New England Patriots or Boston Red Sox or Mountaineers play and spend time with my family and dogs - Gracie, Brady and Sunny!

Cindi Settle

My name is Cindi Settle, the creator and part of the admin team of the Reading Brings Us Together Facebook Group as well as the Reading Brings Us Together website. I am a forty-three year-old West Virginia native who love, love, loves to read.  I am a full-time employee of our local school system while also raising five children (1 boy, 4 girls) and a husband.

While in graduate school I took a break from pleasurable reading to concentrate on academics and taking care of my littles. I was introduced to The Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer (cliché, I know) and I was hooked! Team Edward all the way! lol I haven’t stopped reading since. Soon to follow were the Fifty Shades of Grey Trilogy by E.L. James and the Bared to You series by Sylvia Day. My preferred genres are mostly non-fiction and include Contemporary Romance, Chick-Lit, Smut, Mystery, and some Young Adult. Authors I enjoy include Colleen Hoover, Mia Sheridan, Tara Sivec, and Jamie McGuire (Beautiful Disaster is one of my faves). Happy Reading loves!!

Nicole King

Hi Guys!  I’m Nicole, one part of this little adventure.  I’m in my 40’s but that’s all you get on age, I have a old soul and a young heart.  I live it a small WV town with my husband and daughter.  I am a registered nurse, although I am still trying to figure what direction I want to take that.

OK, enough, let’s talk some books.  I love romance…and smut.  Yes, sexy smut love stories.  I also love a good suspense or thriller.  Favorite authors you may ask?  CoHo, Bella Jewel, Jennifer Armentrout, Kristen Ashley, and Tara Sivec to name a few.  Favorite books…oh the Obsidian series by Jennifer Armentrout is a very favorite, Archer’s Voice – Mia Sheridan, A Thousand Boy Kisses – Tillie Cole, the King series – TMFrazier to name a couple.

I love spending time with my friends and family.  Shopping, make up, swimming, college football (WVU of course), planners, and it goes without saying…reading!  These are a few of my favorite things (did you sing it?!?)
